Unexpected Waters Carried Me to the Rock
Two years ago, I was sitting on the end of a treadmill...crying...and pouring out my heart before the Lord, extremely frustrated with my life circumstances. Having just recently graduated from an academic university with two degrees, huge dreams and ambitions lingering in my mind, and yet... I was still single, living with my parents, working full time wiping old people's butts for a living and seeing no hope for the future ...not how I pictured my life after college.
God, in His gentle voice, whispered sweet words of love in my ear...reminding me that life is a gift, bringing to mind that this is not my home, and reassuring me that He has a plan for my life that is greater than my plans...once again teaching me the humbling reality of surrender and cultivating a heart of thankfulness for my current circumstances. ...lessons that have come to mind frequently over the last two years.
I realized that each day I get to inspire people to greatness, push individuals to their full potential, smile to brighten a day, love the unloved, listen to the broken, encourage the discouraged, pray, serve, and bless again and again.
It is draining and can be disheartening...but each day I'm reminded of how Jesus inspires me to greatness, how Jesus constantly pushes and challenges me seeing a greater potential in my life, how Jesus' Word brightens my day, how Jesus continues to love me when I don't want to love Him, how Jesus listens to my prayers regardless of the condition of my heart, how Jesus encourages me and gives me hope when I'm discouraged ... how could I do anything less?
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jer 19:10-13
Looking back on the last two years, I marvel as I see God's hand at work in my life circumstances to bring me where I am today.
I AM SO THANKFUL!!!
I don't know where you are in life today, but I challenge you to surrender to Him and allow Him to cultivate a heart of thankfulness for your present circumstances. You may never know how it will change your life!
