Acts...seems like a theme

Ok, is it just me or does anyone else feel a wave of revival sweeping across the plans of the mid-west? like seriously. God is moving among our midst and i cannot sit still. and i'm talking about supernatural healings, words of prophecy, and God breaking the hearts of sinners into confession and repentance...etc. house churches are popping up everywhere. communities are being formed - the body of Christ is encouraging one another through prayer and worship. Acts is like the new thing or something...i meet plp that have just this HUGE heart for the Lord and are actively following to start fellowships and i ask them: how did this start? and answer after answer - "well, we just started reading God's Word and applying it to our lives. Taking Acts and how the early church lived and trying to mimic that." wow. i just stand in awe of what God is doing in the hearts of His people. i pretty much have chills running down my spine at the moment thinking about this... last night, after Ichthus, i was so encouraged by the power of God's hand so as i drove home i started praying, thanking and praising God for who He is and what He has done by His grace in our lives...sinful and helpless as we are. God still considers us worthy to be called His children. WOW! if you don't get why this is such a big deal, let me just tell you about the God that i serve...

The God that i serve is righteous and just.
The God that i serve is a little different from the "felt-board Jesus" i grew up with in Sunday school.
The God that i serve has totally wiped out entire populations that did not keep His commandments.
The God that i serve keeps His promises.
The God that i serve uses the insides of a whale to speak to stubborn prophets.
The God that i serve hangs out with drug addicts, demon possessed, prostitutes, and swindlers.
The God that i serve pulls money out of fishes mouths to pay taxes.
The God that i serve fishes for men.
The God that i serve has been known to spit in peoples eyeballs, curse trees, play in the sand in the midst of a stoning, change water into wine, encourage His followers to drink His blood and eat His body, silence wise men with His wisdom...i could go on.
The God that i serve isn't afraid to be honest with people (like when Israel played the 'harlot')
The God that i serve doesn't take kindly to people messing around in "lukewarmness."
The God that i serve brings back dead people to life.
The God that i serve loved ME so much that He gave His only Son to pay the random for the punishment my sins deserve.
The God that i serve is the epitome of 1 Cor 13.
The God that i serve created the mass of expanse in the heavens...to the minute itty-bitty bugs.
The God that i serve is Apha, Omega, Prince of Peace, Mighty Counselour, King of kings, Lord of lords, Living Water, El Shaddai (all sufficient), Adonai (Master), Jehovah-Jireh (the Lord will provide), Jehovah-Nissi (the Lord our banner), Shalom (peace), Shepherd, Creator...
The God that i serve is to be feared.
The God that i serve is just that - "the" God. there is no other.

Waterfall

Salty water drops threatening to take the plunge over the precipice to their doom. Undaunted by the heights, they teeter at the edge. Their kinsmen closely pressing in from behind. No room for hesitation, yet mid jump...second thoughts. They grope the lashes, Desperately clinging, fighting to remain, to stay...to go back home. Their master, silent, unwavering gaze fixed on the white wall, No longer steered by emotions And numbed by the nightly ritual. One blink of an eye, they are pushed to their death The waterfall...release... Gushes of past spoke of bony fingers interrupting their descent. New drops free falling to their destiny. Day 1 of the treasure hunt...

This morning i bounced out of bed in anticipation and excitement of seeking my treasure...after working with my client at 6am i opened up the Word (which is unheard of for me early in the morning). After the inspiration of memorizing 1 Peter i jumped into my car and headed to work. I unconsciously flipped on the radio, only to second think it and turn it off. The silence was daunting but refreshing. Soon prayers and praise started streaming through my mouth like no body was watching. Absolutely refreshed and alive, i pulled into work. Work was long and studying this afternoon was dreadfully boring, but b/c i had my eyes on Jesus everything was in perspective and no bad attitudes! Praise the Lord! I do not say any of this to boast...i'm not perfect but i was just so encouraged by the power of the Holy Spirit working in my life.
